Sunday Mornings

“Our Lutheran Heritage:  Luther on Vocation”

Justification by grace through faith alone is Luther's most important teaching; arguably, the second most important is his teaching on vocation. While vocation is central to Luther's understanding of Christian discipleship, it is little understood or discussed by Lutherans today. This series will look at how Luther's teaching developed out of Scripture and how it should shape Christian discipleship.

Monday Mornings

St. Paul's Letter to the Romans

As he wrote to the Christians in Rome, the greatest city in the world of his time, Paul, inspired by God, opened his heart and testified to his deepest faith and beliefs. What he shared with them is the very core and center of our Christian beliefs and hopes. Whenever we study God's Word we grow. The Word is dynamic! It is alive! It is the channel through which God pours His power into our lives—His forgiveness, His love, His comfort, His hope, His strength to persevere, His courage to go into each day and each circumstance of life as witnesses of Christ our Lord. Romans, because of its focus on core doctrines, is exceptionally meaningful and practical for daily living. St. Paul says it himself at the beginning of his letter:  "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes" (Romans 1:16). Everyone is welcome. No one is ever put on the spot. Questions, comments, and discussion are most welcome. Come a little early for coffee or tea and (usually) something for your sweet tooth. Bring a friend!
